Blackstone Smash Burgers Recipe

by Eduard Anselme

Blackstone smash burgers is much similar to a grilled cheese sandwich. But the taste is so different; the only word I can think of to describe it is DELICIOUS. These burgers are so tasty that I almost ate all four burgers myself, but luckily there were others around who admired my creation and proclaimed that they were even better than the burgers at Mcdonald’s and in particular, Blackberry Farm, an award-winning restaurant located in Tennessee.

What is Smash Burgers?

Smash burgers are made with 100% grass-fed beef and smashed on the grill. The smash technique creates a juicy, tender burger that’s topped with fresh ingredients like lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions. Smash burgers are served on a house-made bun that is baked in-house daily.

Ingredients

  • 2lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • garlic powder
  • parsley

How to make Smash Burgers on Blackstone

  1. Divide the meat into four equal parts and form each part into a patty.
  2. Place each patty between two sheets of wax paper and flatten with a meat mallet or rolling pin until about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper.
  4. Mix together the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and parsley in a small bowl.
  5. Place patties on a plate that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
  6. Press 2 tablespoons of the breadcrumb mixture on top of each patty and press down to coat evenly.
  7. Heat grill to medium-high heat (350°F).
  8. Brush the grill grate lightly with vegetable oil or spray it with nonstick cooking spray before grilling burgers, so they do not stick to the grill while cooking.
  9. Cook burgers for 5 minutes per side for medium, well-done doneness (or less time if desired).
  10. Move burgers to buns and top with whatever toppings you like: cheese, mustard-mayo sauce, pickles… anything goes!

What To Serve With?

You’ve got the perfect burger. You’ve got the perfect toppings. What do you serve with your Smash Burger?

Luckily, there are a ton of options for what to serve on the side of your Smash Burger. Here are just a few of our favorites:

  • Baked potatoes: These are a classic and time-tested option. They’re easy to make and can be ready when you need them.
  • French fries: While it’s true that these aren’t as healthy as baked potatoes, they’re still delicious and go well with burgers. Plus, they’re super easy to make at home!
  • Bean salad: Bean salad is a great way to add some extra protein and fiber into your meal without having to cook anything else up! It also goes great with burgers because of its neutral flavor profile, so whatever sauce you choose will stand out even more than usual (in a good way).
  • Fresh fruit: If you want something light but filling, try serving up some fresh fruit alongside your burger! It makes everything look beautiful and tastes delicious too!

Tips

Here are some tips to make Smash Burgers much better:

  1. Add a slice of cheese to the burger patty
  2. Add some lettuce and tomato to the burger patty when you add the cheese
  3. Put ketchup on top of the burger patty

Storage & Reheating

Smash Burgers are so delicious that you might want to eat them all at once! But that’s not how we roll.

Here’s how to store Smash Burgers:

Keep Smash Burgers in the freezer until you’re ready to enjoy one (or a few). Not only does this keep them fresh and delicious, but it also makes sure they’re ready for when you’re craving a burger and don’t have time for prep.

Reheating

When you’re ready to eat a Smash Burger, take it out of the freezer and let it thaw for about 15 minutes before cooking. You can even do this in the microwave if you’re in a hurry! Just make sure it doesn’t get too warm—it should still be cold enough that you could stick your tongue on it without burning yourself.

How to Reheat on Frying Pan

  1. Heat up your frying pan or griddle over medium-high heat, then add a little butter or oil (we like avocado oil) so the patty won’t stick while cooking and gets nice and crispy on both sides.
  2. Cook each side until browned and delicious looking (about 4 minutes per side), then serve with your favorite toppings!

FAQ

What temp to cook smash burgers on Blackstone griddle?

We’ve found that the ideal temperature for cooking smash burgers is about 375 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, your burgers will turn out crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle—the perfect texture for all of your favorite burger toppings.
However, if you prefer to have your burgers more well-done than medium-rare, or if you just want to make sure they’re extra crispy, then crank up that griddle! The higher the temp, the more crispy your burgers will get. Just make sure not to go too hot or else they’ll burn!

How long to cook smash burgers on Blackstone?

we recommend cooking the meat for at least 2 minutes per side. We recommend using a spatula to smash the burger down into a flat layer before flipping it over and smashing it again. This will help keep your burgers from becoming too dry when you cook them on the Blackstone Griddle.

Conclusion

The smash burger is a variation of the hamburger and it is just as good as this classical version. If you like hamburgers, try this recipe because it is delicious.
