Cooking Tips
Tex Mex Paste Hello Fresh is the perfect accompaniment to all your favorite dishes, but it’s not always easy to get the recipe right. Here are some tips for making it even better.
- Use less water (or more oil): You don’t want this paste to be watery, but you also don’t want it to be too thick and gloppy. So if you’re cooking with a lot of heavy cream and cheese, go ahead and use less water. For lighter dishes that don’t need as much fat, you might want to use less oil. Just remember that the taste will be much better if you do!
- Add fresh spices: Whether it’s cumin or chili powder, try adding in some fresh spices instead of just using pre-made dried ones. It’ll add a bit of complexity to your recipe and make it taste even better overall!
- Add an extra squeeze of lemon juice: Remember when we talked about how important fresh flavors are in Tex-Mex? Well, adding some lemon juice at the end of cooking can really help bring out those flavors—especially if you’re using more than one kind of cheese or cream
How to Storage?
The best way to keep your paste fresh is to store it in the refrigerator—never on the counter! If you do need to leave the paste out for a little while, don’t worry—it will keep for several days at room temperature.
To prevent mold from forming inside your jar of paste, we recommend that you follow these steps:
- When storing your jars of paste, use Tupperware containers or glass jars that have been cleaned thoroughly with soap and water.
- Use an airtight lid and place the jar in a cool dark place like the back pantry of your kitchen or basement. Please do not leave them out in direct sunlight or next to any heat sources like radiators or stoves because this could cause them to lose their shelf life faster than normal!
