Mexican Candy Shot Recipe (Paleta Shot)

by Eduard Anselme

My cousins and uncles wanted to spend the evening drinking under the stars and they asked me to make them something sweet since they are all lactose intolerant. So I made these Mexican Candy shot, which I thought would be the perfect treat for the occasion.

What is Mexican Candy Shots?

Mexican candy shots are a delicious treat that has become popular throughout the world. Their origins can be traced back to Mexico, where they are traditionally served at parties and celebrations.

What does it taste like?

Paleta shots taste like a sweet, refreshing treat. They’re made up of a variety of ingredients, including lime juice, sugar, water and tequila (if you want the full experience).

Frozen Limeade

Frozen limeade is a great addition to this shots because it adds flavor and texture. The limeade is usually mixed with tequila, vodka, or rum and then poured into shot glasses. The shot glass can be made from any kind of glass.

The frozen limeade helps cool down the drink so that it will not burn your throat when you drink it. It also gives it a thicker consistency that allows for easier consumption without burning your mouth on the alcohol.

The frozen limeade also adds sweetness to the drink, which makes it taste better than other types of drinks like soda water and tonic water, which would not have enough sweetness in them to make them enjoyable for most people.

Tequila

Tequila is an alcoholic beverage made from the blue agave plant. It is typically distilled to between 70 and 90% alcohol content. It has a distinct taste and is generally consumed as a shot.

The use of tequila in making Mexican candy shots is that it adds a distinct flavor to the shots, which makes them taste more like tequila. The taste of tequila is usually sweet and bitter, which is why it pairs well with candy shots.

People who consume tequila often report feeling relaxed and happy after drinking it, which is why the combination of tequila and candy shots makes people feel happy after consuming them.

Vodka

Vodka is a common ingredient in this candy shots because it’s used to make the sweet, fruity liqueur that is often the base of these shots. The vodka itself is neutral-flavored alcohol that serves as a base for many other flavors, but it has its own unique taste.

The primary purpose of vodka in candy shots is to provide a neutral base for the other flavors you’re adding to your drink. It helps ensure that every shot you make will have a consistent flavor so that you don’t end up with a variety of tastes that are all over the place.

Vodka also acts as an emulsifier, which means it helps prevent the separation between liquids and solids in your drink. For example, if you add juice to vodka, they will stay mixed together instead of separating into layers like oil and water do when combined in an open container set on its side (which would look like oil floating at the top).

Best Hot Sauce to use?

For a Mexican candy shot, the best hot sauce to use is Tabasco.

Tabasco has been around for over 150 years, and it’s one of the most popular brands of hot sauce in the world. It’s made from tabascos (a type of pepper) grown on Avery Island in Louisiana, and it has a unique flavor that’s fruity and spicy at the same time. It also has just enough heat to give your mouth a little burn without making you cry like an idiot (which is always nice).

You can find Tabasco at most grocery stores—you just have to look for the yellow label!

Best Tequila to Use?

The best tequila to use in making Mexican candy shots is a reposado. Reposados are aged for at least two months, so they’re less harsh than Blancos and more complex than anejos. Blanco tequilas are unaged and more likely to have a harsh taste, while Anejo tequilas are aged for longer periods of time and tend to be smoother.

If you’re looking for a reposado that’s also affordable, we recommend Jose Cuervo’s Reposado Tequila. This tequila has a rich flavor with a hint of vanilla, which makes it perfect for making candy shots!

How to make Mexican candy shots

  1. Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix well with a spoon.
  2. Pour the mixture into shot glasses and garnish with lime slices if desired.

Tips

Mexican shots are a great way to enjoy your favorite tequila, and they’re easy to make. Here are some tips to ensure that your shot is the best it can be.

  1. Use good quality ingredients: You want to make sure that you put only the best ingredients in your shot glass. This means good quality tequila and fresh limes or lemons for garnish.
  2. Use fresh juice: If you have fresh juice on hand, use it! Freshly squeezed lime or lemon juice will add a lot more flavor than bottled juice will, so if you have access to fresh produce, go ahead and use it!
  3. Use real sugar: This one seems like a no-brainer, but if you’re using just simple syrup or corn syrup as a sweetener instead of real sugar (like white granulated cane sugar), then your shot won’t taste very good at all!

Storage

Mexican shots are best stored in a cool, dry place. The refrigerator is not recommended because moisture can cause the product to become sticky or moldy.

If you want to store them in the refrigerator, make sure they are covered tightly with plastic wrap or a lid before putting them into the fridge. This will help keep out any moisture that might cause problems for your Mexican shots.
