Pistachio Shot Recipe

by Eduard Anselme

Of all the drinks we’ve covered in our Cocktail Recipes, one that surprisingly stood out for us is the Pistachio Shot. Since we started this blog, we could have never imagined that something as simple as a pistachio-flavored liqueur would result in such a delicious shot. So let’s jump right into this tasty little treat!

What is a Pistachio Shot?

A Pistachio Shot is a light and refreshing drink that combines the fresh taste of pistachios with the sweetness and creaminess of the milk. It’s a great alternative to coffee or other caffeinated drinks, and it’s also the perfect option for those who are looking to have something delicious and healthy at their next gathering.

The best part about these pistachio shots is that you can make them yourself! All you need are pistachios, milk, ice cubes, and your favorite sweetener or flavoring agent—and we’ve got recipes for each one below. You don’t even need any fancy equipment: just grab your blender or food processor, throw everything in there together (except for any toppings you might want on top), blend until smooth, and chill in the fridge for an hour or two so that it’s really cold—and voila! You’ve got yourself a delicious treat that’s sure to please guests at any event.

Imagine this: you’re at a party, and you’ve had a few drinks. You’re feeling great, and suddenly the hostess brings out some pistachios. A friend of yours is standing next to you and says, “Oh my god, would you look at those pistachios? They’re so good!”

And then she goes on to tell you all about how she makes her own pistachio shot at home. She tells you what she puts in it and even offers to make one for you right now! But then another friend calls out to her from across the room…

You have no choice but to walk away.

The next day at work (or school), you tell everyone about the amazing pistachio shot your friend made for your party (or class). Everyone wants one! And after telling them all about it, they decide they may want to make their own version.

But what do they use? How do they make these incredible shots? What if we told you there’s an easier way?

What’s in a Pistachio Shot?

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of pistachios
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of agave nectar or honey
  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice (juice from half a lime)

How to make a Pistachio Shot

  1. Soak the pistachio nuts overnight in water (enough to cover them).
  2. Rinse and drain them before using. You can also boil these for about 5 minutes, then let them cool and drain them before using. This will make them easier to blend with the other ingredients later on in the recipe.
  3. Pour all of the ingredients into your blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy (you may need to stop occasionally and scrape down the sides with a spoon or spatula). This will take a few minutes, depending on how powerful your blender is! If you do not have access to a blender or food processor at home, you can use an electric coffee grinder instead; just be sure that it doesn’t overheat while blending all of these ingredients together!

Tips

Here are some tips for making your Pistachio Shots taste even more like pistachio pudding:

  • Try using different types of vodka for different flavors (try citrus and vanilla)
  • Add some nutmeg or cinnamon and see how that tastes!
  • Use the freshest pistachios you can find.
  • Use organic ingredients whenever possible, and always check the labels!
  • Be sure to give this shot plenty of time to chill in the freezer before serving—a minimum of 4 hours is recommended for best results.

Storage

  • Keep it fresh: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. It’s best to use Pistachio Shot within 6 months of opening.
  • Keep it sealed: Close tightly after each use and store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

FAQ

What can you make with Pistachio Nuts?

Pistachio nuts are a great snack on their own, but they can also be used in a variety of other dishes. Here are some ideas:
-Use them to make pesto or hummus. Add them to your favorite salad dressing or sandwich spread.
-Add them to your favorite cookie recipe, or use them as an ice cream topping.
-Use the shells to decorate cakes and cupcakes!
-Use them in making Pistachio Martini

Conclusion

A Pistachio shot is a great choice when looking for a delicious, unique, but also pretty easy-to-make recipe. They also taste amazing and combine surprisingly well with other ingredients. If you’re not a fan of pistachios, simply substitute them for pecan nuts or almonds. Additionally, if you wanted to really class it up, you could use pre-made chocolate shells instead of the chocolate bar. But that’s an entirely different subject. Either way, give this recipe a try at your next party; we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
